Lost in Translation

Would anyone kindly explain why The President's Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society's LGBTIQ video, Our Children are Alright, was shot in English, crippling both its speakers and its viewers, instead of familiarising them with the important topic as is its purpose? Most of the interviewees are clearly Maltese-language speakers, yet their means of expression and vital message are capriciously compromised as for some ridiculous reason they speak in forced, incorrect English instead of their natural fluent Maltese. This has a counterproductive effect on the aim of the clip, as it keeps the subject distant from the local reality, when it could have brought it closer to home even through the language. Instead it also excludes the strata of Maltese society whose English may not be so good. Why do we have such a toxic relationship with our mother tongue, and why is the President, supposedly the source of well-spoken official Maltese, encouraging such absurd, colonialist and psuedo-elitist behaviour? Is the PL so childishly desperate to show off its elevated social status by engaging in this insultting charade, blatantly diminishing and humiliating our perfectly adequate mother tongue, and compromising such a vital message?
